Data Centre

To meet the rising demand for hosting space, new data centres are been built across the UK . Power restrictions are curbing development within London and the South East and pushing development outside of city centres and metropolitan areas. Whilst this means space and power are more readily available, fibre may not be. Finding locations where space and power, as well as cost-effective diverse fibre connectivity is available is therefore the Holy Grail of new-build data centres.

The NWIX network has been built around connecting UK data centres into a single network. Customers and partners can then connect into the data centre nearest to them and access the NWIX network and ultimately the Internet from there. NWIX has, and is continuing to work with, a number of new and proposed data centres, finding innovative ways in which to ensure cost-effective delivery of fibre. This is where our policy of working in mutually beneficial partnerships has been highly visible. NWIX is open to shared risk/shared reward joint ventures in instances where bringing another data centre ‘on-net’ will complement our infrastructure.

Demands for back-up and storage solutions are growing at an alarming rate; the low latency attributes of our network mean data centres on the NWIX network are well placed as sites for inclusion in such solutions.
