The Management Team

NWIX is managed by a seasoned management team, who first worked together over a decade ago to bring the business XTML to fruition. NWIX Group is privately funded by the Directors.
 
John Ridd – Chief Executive Officer
Having worked in the technology sector meant, even in the early days of the Internet, that John recognised the impact it would have on business. XTML specialised in business Internet services and as MD John was responsible for securing investment from 3i and HP in order to develop the company. He also gained vast expertise in leveraging relationships in joint ventures with companies such as HP, Teleglobe, Telenor, Morse and SUN. Since then John has consulted alongside several venture capital companies on investment or exit strategies and worked with both the UK and US governments on identifying strategic commercial and technological vulnerabilities.  John rejoined forces with Nick at NWIX last year and holds the position of CEO.

Nick Whittaker – Chief Technical Officer
Nick Whittaker has over two decades of experience in delivering Internet services to business in the UK. His interest in networking meant Nick was instrumental in setting up MaNAP, the UK’s second Internet exchange point, as well as the XTML business. At XTML he designed and managed the build of both the network and data centre owned by the business. Following the sale of XTML Nick has used his technical expertise to consult in a variety of roles including the redesign of a national governmental body network. Since 2005 Nick has dedicated his time to the developing NWIX business where he continues to build the network presence in the UK and Europe.
