NWIX specialises in providing progressive networking solutions to customers for whom information availability and user experience is core to their business. Our customers vary from online businesses striving to meet the increasing expectations of consumers, to businesses with demanding enterprise network requirements, as well as the ISP and data centre communities.

Existing telecoms infrastructure wasn’t specifically designed with the demands of real-time and bandwidth hungry applications in mind. As these are the areas experiencing constant and accelerating growth, the strain is now becoming apparent in certain industries. NWIX is now challenging the conventional approach to networking and providing an alternative to discerning content and access providers across the UK and Europe. Our solutions are based on our unique infrastructure, our networked interconnecting data centres, having our own Internet Exchange providing an overlay of the peering LAN, and on our in-house expertise and knowledge on networking.

NWIX hosts the Edge-IX Internet Exchange. Because Edge-IX is a distributed Internet Exchange members can peer with each other at geographically distant locations e.g. a business based in London can peer with another in Manchester. The IX already provides services companies, including Virgin Media, Opal Telecom (Carphone Warehouse) BBC (via Siemens), THUS (C&W) and UKERNA, who collectively connect to over 28 million subscribers. This significantly improves the performance of services, such as those required for content rich media businesses. As well as delivering technical superiority our approach also allows us to aggressively challenge the pricing strategies of the major telecommunication companies.

NWIX has worked with large content providers such as moneysupermarket.com and Trader Media Group to develop solutions that ensure they can cost-effectively provide an enhanced user experience to those visiting their websites. Additionally we work with Systems Integrators such as Getronics to design and implement advanced networking solutions to support storage and back-up requirements and the delivery of bandwidth hungry or demanding applications.

The NWIX Group is certified to Information Security Standard ISO/IEC27001 as well as quality assurance ISO9001 – critical for those with high security requirements or those running sensitive data over their networks.
