Content Delivery Networks

Whether your business is broadcasting live events, gaming services, online advertising insertions, user-generated content or you are an online business with large quantities of content on your website, meeting and exceeding user expectation is a challenge. Changing internet usage and developments in technology now mean that Content Delivery Networks, previously seen as only being cost-effective for the largest of content providers, are now becoming more appropriate and cost-effective for more and more companies.

As a Master Reseller of Level 3, NWIX can work with you to provide Content Delivery Networks (CDN).  A Content Delivery Network is a geographically dispersed system, whereby content lives on the edge of the system rather than on a central server. Level 3 have the have the advantage of having one of the largest IP networks in the world under their management, so unlike other CDN providers such as Akamai and Limelight they do not have to oversee multiple suppliers to deliver a Content Delivery Network. This means services can be provided with more control and a more effective price point than other options.

The CDN proposition is highly complementary to the NWIX high performance networking solutions  NWIX are Level 3’s only northern Master Reseller. The Level 3 proposition is highly complementary to the NWIX core business. Added to the NWIX network and its Peering LAN overlay, the CDN provides online businesses with a strong proposition for delivering and managing content, both for now and in the future, as demand for video streaming etc increases.

  • Weakest point in any CDN can be from origin servers to Internet. NWIX network addresses this issue
  • NWIX network is low latency making it the ideal companion network to any CDN
  • NWIX relationship with MaNAP ensure the balance between peering and CDN utilisation/transit  is objectively balanced
  • Customers can use any of the data centre on-net with NWIX to host their origin servers.

Because the CDN offers built-in redundancy and resilience the customer only has to maintain their origin servers in a single location resulting is a total lower cost of ownership to the ‘build your own’ alternative. A Level 3 CDN delivered by NWIX reduces the need for build out of data centres and network beyond the content origin servers. Customers can reduce capital and operational costs and have fewer depreciating assets yet still provide an enhanced experience and improved services to their customers.
